WordPress.org vs WordPress.com

Posted in WordPress

WordPress has become the most popular content management system (CMS) in the world today. However, if you are new to WordPress, you may be asking, “So what’s the difference between WordPress.org and WordPress.com?” You don’t need to be an expert, simply read on.

WordPress.org is where you will be able to find free WordPress software, download it, and install it. The wonderful thing about it is you can host your own blog or website. It also contains important WordPress news, documentation and community support forums. Whereas WordPress.com is a commercial website which takes care of the entire hosting for you. Which basically means, you don’t have to download software, pay for hosting, or manage a web server yourself.

WordPress.org is where you can install several premium upgrades, namely Premium Wedding Themes. With these upgrades wedding professionals are able to gain access to custom wedding themes. And so add and edit files though the WP admin panel. For custom wedding themes you can visit www.premiumweddingthemes.com.

At WordPress.com you are provided with a setup which is basically pre-set. You are required to pay for upgrades which provide you with more freedom. Limitation with WordPress.org include no custom plugins, limited storage space, no access to FTP or server, no control over content as you would have to pay for removing ads and uploading or using Premium Wedding Themes.

Since with WordPress.org you have full control over the site, the maintenance and development of the site rests in your creative hands. At WordPress.com, all maintenance and development issues are taken care of for you.

So the question now is, “Which option would be best for me?” Well the answer is rather simple. If you want limitations on what you can do then the choice is the free set-up. However if you want complete control over a premium WordPress template then using dot org is the way to go. Of course using a PWT theme wouldn’t hurt!!!
